Marriage is a very important ceremony in a couple’s life. You are promising to “have and to hold, from this day forward, for better for worse…”, so it is important to prepare well for this momentous promise. You will probably have pencilled in a date for your wedding with us by now. Now you will need to meet with one of the ministers to begin preparation. At our first meeting, we have a general interview to get to know you and your wishes for the wedding. At this meeting we will make sure we have all your details recorded, and you will need to pay $300 deposit to secure your date. By law, you need to give notice of your intention to marry between 18 months and 1 month before your wedding date, and legally we will need to sight the originals of your birth certificates, and if relevant, your details of baptism. Then we make appointments for a series of marriage preparation sessions to discuss issues which are important to you. Alternatively, you may decide to do this with a specialized agency such as Relationships Australia. We want to help to make this special day a happy and memorable one for you.
